Mavericks Surf Contest Announces the Go211.com Battle of the Bands

The 2008 Mavericks Surf Contest Presented by Ask.com® Announces the Go211.com Battle of the Bands!



Go211.com, the online community where music fans and action sports enthusiasts hang with pro athletes, has partnered with organizers of the Mavericks Surf Contest Presented by Ask.com® to create an online Battle of the Bands. 24 Sonicbids members will be selected to compete for the chance to have their song included on the 2008 Mavericks Surf Contest® DVD.



Don’t know Mavericks? Each winter on 24 hours’ notice when conditions are right, 24 of the world’s greatest big-wave surfers travel to Half Moon Bay, California to brave frigid waters, jagged reefs and monster 40+ foot waves to determine the next champion. With over 50,000 onsite spectators last year, the Contest has become the world’s premier paddle-in event. Think you’ve got what it takes to be selected by the Music Division of TRP Sports & Entertainment as one of our 24 Semi-Finalists? If so, your band will advance to the Go211.com online voting round to be held in April, where YOUR fans and Go211.com members will review one MP3, one jpeg and a 50-word bio from each band before casting their votes.



The winning act will have its song featured on the 2008 Mavericks Surf Contest® DVD and will be invited to perform live at the DVD release party in California this summer. Travel, accommodations, and backline will be provided.



The second place artist will have a track included on the 2008 Mavericks Surf Contest® DVD and will be compensated $1,500 ($750 per side for use of Master and Syndication licenses). The third place artist will be awarded $750.



All band members must be 18 or older to be eligible.
