Summary

Now in its 14th year, MEI (the Meeting of Independent Labels) draws over 30,000 people, 300+ exhibitors, 400 showcases and live acts, 250 video clips as well as 150 music professionals and journalists from all over Europe. Beyond showcasing the most outstanding artists of the new Italian Music Scene, MEI hosts the MEI Music Awards, meetings, presentations and debates. Italian bands must follow instructions on www.audiocoop.it; applying for MEI through Sonicbids is only for bands with residence outside of Italy. The MEI Festival 2010 will be held 26, 27 and 28 November in Faenza (Ra), Italy and will have 300 artists performing original music on 6 stages, with 3-4 stages specifically devoted to emerging artists.

MEI has historically an emphasis on rock, indie, electro-crossover, hip-hop but is since the the opening of a new dedicated space enlarging every year towards world, folk and acoustic. MEI is looking for artists in all genres.



A minimum of two Sonicbids artists and a total of 10 artists will be selected and all be provided with accommodations (Hotel/B&B), dinner, local transport (from airport Bologna or forlì or train station), basic backline (amps, drums). Although you do not have to be European to be selected, MEI does not guarantee any expenses covered for travel. Performances will be 20 minutes (line check only), either on the festival ground (during the day) or in the city center (during the night).

Besides a "who's who" of Italian music business, MEI featured 40 delegates from the biggest European music institutions: MMF delegates, EuroSonic (Holland), Network Europe meeting, Popkomm (Germany), Feira de Musica Indipendente Brazil, Impala/Vut (Germany), Music Export Lithuania, Kultur Aktiv (Germany), Go Russia, Womex (Germany), Sziget Festival (Hungary), Black Lamb (Switzerland), Gotham Recs (UK), Merlin (Australia), Rockadillo Recs (Finland), and many more.



Additionally, 2010's edition will continue constructive conferences and panels to strengthen the link from Italy to the rest of the world, with high profile speakers from the US, Scandinavia, UK and all over Europe.
