Summary

Middle of the Map Fest aims to bring world class entertainment to Kansas City. The festival will showcase 50+ emerging, local and national bands. Middle of the Map will be held on April 4th-6th in a few select venues across the midtown area of Kansas City with about 3,000 total in attendance. At least 1 slot has been reserved for a Sonicbids artist.

The goal of this festival is to promote Kansas City culture and put it to the test against national and emerging culture. Ink Magazine and The Record Machine wish to further establish Kansas City as a musical and cultural center and bring together a sense of community for local residents.

The Record Machine is an independent record company based in Kansas City and has been in business since 2003. They have been creating a community of emerging musical acts from places near and far. Tim Finn of The Kansas City Star remarked about The Record Machine’s output “[They] have assembled a stable of diverse artists who are making music that deserves national attention.”

The festival is brought to you by Ink magazine and inkkc.com and The Record Machine. Ink magazine is Kansas City’s premier lifestyle and entertainment publication and website. Owned by The Kansas City Star, it is one of Kansas City’s largest publications and is the only publication and website produced by and for people in their 20 and 30's. Ink magazine is supportive of local musicians and events to support the culture and industry. Ink publishes hundreds of local music reviews – including many Record Machine artists - and profiles of local bands plus much more local music coverage.

Past performers include: Two Door Cinema Club, Maps & Atlases, Daniel Johnston, Cursive, The Appleseed Cast, The Raveonettes, Small Black, Margot & the Nuclear So and Sos, and many more.
