Around 15 official talent Showcases will be presented at MIDEM, Cannes, France, from Sunday 24 to Wednesday 27 January 2010.


MIDEM, the one stop destination for the world’s music community, is providing the most valuable knowledge and connections to source business. This event can boast providing potential access to an audience of more than 8,000 music professionals from 80 countries, 4,000 companies and 450 journalists from 300 media organizations, 60 national pavilions. With 44 years of experience, MIDEM has a rich history of launching artists’ careers. To only quote a few from the last years: Raul Midon, Amy Winehouse, Patrick Watson, Sliimy, Pascale Picard, Yuksek, Jamie Cullum, Yaron Hermann, Titi Robin, Ibrahim Maalouf, Drugs, Yaël Naïm, Charlie Winston, Blue October, Gush, Duné…


For the 2010 edition, MIDEM has teamed up once more with Sonicbids to offer MIDEM clients the unique opportunity to create the buzz and launch artists by getting their acts onstage.

1) Presentation Of The Offer: An opportunity for international acts of all genres and styles to perform at MIDEM, Cannes, France.

• All requests to perform at MIDEM Talent venue are submitted via the Sonicbids website (see conditions).
  
• All requests go through a selection process.
  
• The selection process will be undertaken by MIDEM and will be based on artistic merit.
  
• The submission opening date is September 1, 2009
  
• The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2009
  
• All acts will be informed of their status by the end of November 2009
  
• The time and date of each individual showcase will be allocated by MIDEM

2) Conditions for submitting an act: Submissions must be made online via the Sonicbids website. To submit an artist/group:

• The person or company submitting the artist or group must subscribe to Sonicbids (All submission fees are non-refundable)
  
• The artist/group must be signed to a label
  
• The artist/group must have a verifiable experience of 10 live performances
  
• The artist/group must have no more than 7 artists onstage
  
• Each artist must be 18 years old or over
  
• The artist/group must be available to perform at MIDEM Talent in Cannes, France on the date allocated for the showcases
  
• The artist/group must sign a contract with MIDEM before their performance at MIDEM Talent (for French administrative purposes and to be paid the legal salary by MIDEM)

3) The artist/band is looking for:

• signing
  
• licensing
  
• publishing
  
• management
  
• legal representative
  
• booking
  

4) What MIDEM offers - MIDEM Talent: a selection of slots from January 24 to January 27, 2010 from7.00pm.

• A 50-minute slot for a private showcase (with a maximum of 7 artists/musicians)
  
• Venue: Magic Mirrors temporary structure (capacity: 450)
  
• Basic equipment (lighting and sound)
  
• Technical staff
  
• Line-check
  
• Basic catering
  
• Dressing room
  
• Ground transportation (Nice airport/hotel/Nice airport/venue)
  
• A basic legal salary per performing artist: approximately €100 (one hundred Euros) per performing artist and €72 (seventy-two Euros) per technician and the administrative papers involved (each performing artist/technician will sign a contract with MIDEM)
  
• A mention of the showcase with the artist’s/band’s name in the MIDEM “Preview” magazine, sent to all participants who have registered before December 21, 2009
  
• A mention of the showcase with the artist’s/band’s name in the MIDEM daily magazine “The News” distributed on the day of their showcase to the entire MIDEM market
  
• Listing of the showcase with the artist’s/band’s name in the “handbook”, the official concerts, conferences & events programme, in the mini-programme, in the calendars of the daily News, on the roll-up in the venue
  
• The inclusion of the artist’s/group’s biography/discography and professionals goals on the matchmaking website, MIDEMworld
  
• The inclusion of one title/song on MIDEMWorld for the year to come until October 2010
  
• Free registration to the MIDEM market for the performing artist/band (maximum seven people)
  
• Free registration to the MIDEM market for the artist/group’s Tour Manager (one person only)
  
• Listing of the artist/band’s manager in the MIDEM guide 2010

5) Financial and administrative conditions

• The artist/band must subscribe to Sonicbids if not already a member (All submission fees are non-refundable)
  
• The artist’s label’s representative accepts to register for MIDEM 2010 if the submission is selected (cost from €675 before October 31 to €1,125 onsite before taxes)
  
• The artist/band must cover all national and international transport costs to and from Nice, France
  
• The artist/band must cover their hotels, meals, per diem in Cannes
  
• The artist/band must obtain visas
  
• The artist/band must ensure that each performing artist signs a contract with MIDEM before their performance (for French administrative purposes and to enable the artist/band to be paid the legal salary by MIDEM)
