Summary

The Minstrel Acoustic Concert Series, located in Morristown, NJ, is a concert series run by the Folk Project, a non-profit folk music and arts organization. It is looking to book local to touring solo artists and bands to perform live on Fridays. The Minstrel welcomes acoustic, traditional and contemporary folk artists.

Submitting artists are required to submit an audio recording of themselves performing live, in front of an audience. This recording should have little editing, and demonstrate their abilities to perform live and engage the audience. These recordings must be a full set, at least 30 minutes long, and may be either hardcopy CD, or a link to an MP3 or other audio file.

Here’s what selected artists get:

  • Artists will be compensated. Feature acts average around $600.  Openers from $75 to $180, depending upon size of act.

  • Artists can sell their merchandise and keep 100% of the profits. Sales average around $400 for feature acts and $100 for openers.

  • A sound system will be provided at the venue, but artists are responsible for bringing their own instruments and any additional equipment.

  • In-home housing can be provided on the night of performance.

About the series:

The Minstrel Acoustic Concert Series, held in a 180 capacity venue and with an average attendance of 90, is every Friday, year round, and the second Friday of the month is an open stage/audition night. The music is "folk" music in its broadest sense. That is, in addition to traditional American and ethnic "folk" music (in its purist definition), it welcomes music of contemporary, primarily acoustic songwriters, and other types of music more folkie in attitude than in content. There is no alcohol or tobacco on the premises.
