Martin Luther King Jr. - Birthday Celebration

The Rowan Blues and Jazz Society presents a city-wide celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. Artists of varied genres are encouraged to submit their EPKs to play at the city wide celebration. Past festival activities include a ceremony at Oak Grove Freedman's Cemetery, Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Parade and Salisbury Civic Center exhibits including food and craft vendors offering items for purchase, along with live entertainment./n/nThe Rowan Blues and Jazz Society presents a city-wide celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. Compensation for artists is negotiable and based on prior experience.



The Rowan Blues and Jazz Society looks to preserve, promote and present the art forms of Blues and Jazz music through educational programs in North Carolina schools, community and through annual Blues and Jazz Festivals. It looks to encourage youth musicians and bands through performances with more experienced musicians as well as their peers, to support local charitable events selected by board members and to create lasting relationships with our community through partnerships with our local businesses.
