Summary

MOBfest, to be held in Chicago June 19-21, 2008, includes three days of showcases at some of Chicago's best venues, one day of industry panels and tons of networking/industry parties. By submitting to MOBfest, you will be considered for three opportunities, including:

  • MOBfest showcase slot - Selected bands will play a MOBfest Showcase
  • Demo Listening Panel- Selected Demos/CD will be listened to by a panel of A&R reps and industry execs
  • MOBfest Compilation CD with A&R distribution - Selected songs will be featured on the MOBfest Compilation CD

    Giving bands from all over the country an opportunity to be exposed to a gathering of music industry executives and A&R reps from both coasts, MOBfest brings the music business elite to Chicago. In its 11th year of helping bands get noticed, MOBfest has a proven track record of launching artists. Past Mobsters include: The Killers (Island Def/Jam), Disturbed (Giant Reprise), Rachael Yamagata (RCA), Absentstar (Columbia), Assassins (Arista), The Redwalls (Capitol) and Kill Hannah (Atlantic). MOBfest helps start the buzz or close the deal.

    This year, MOBfest has partnered with Atlantic Records to find a young band that will win a demo deal from the label. The band will sign a production deal with Atlantic Records and Atlantic will fund the recording of their “single” with the advise and direction of an Atlantic Records A&R scout giving Atlantic the opportunity to upstream the deal based on the results of the production. The A&R scout will have full access to all submitted music entries and to all the showcases during the MOBfest weekend and from their, the A&R scout will select one young band for this deal.

    For the first time this year, your submission fee will get your EPK reviewed for a potential showcase slot, the Atlantic Records demo deal and inclusion on the MOBfest compilation CD (distributed amongst the industry attendees). All artists who submit (whether they get a showcase slot or not) get full access to the music business panels held at the Metro/Smart bar on Saturday June 21st.
