Summary

Based in Chicago, MOBfest has given bands an opportunity to be seen and heard by a gathering of A&R reps from both coasts, media executives, managers, producers and other music industry professionals since 1997. MOBfest creates the opportunity to network, schmooze, make new contacts, secure current connections, and start new relationships.

This year, MOBfest is branching out and will be hosting a one-day event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin - November 8th, 2008 at the Miramar Theatre. The one day format will be more concise, hosting an afternoon of panel discussions and an evening of showcasing artists all in one place. Six bands will be selected from Sonicbids submissions to perform live in front of this captive industry audience and the general public.

Grand Prize: A demo deal with Atlantic records, which includes studio time at Johnny K’s world-class Groovemaster Studios (Disturbed, Plain White T’s, Finger Eleven, Academy Is…, etc.), mixing time at Butch Vig’s world-renowned Smart Studios (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, Fall Out Boy, etc.) and mastering by Trevor Sadler of Mastermind Productions (Virgin, EMI, J Records, Tooth & Nail, Backporch, etc.)

Other prizes include:

  • Gear packages from Sennheiser and Digitech
  • Duplication services through Disc Makers

In addition, each of the six artists selected to showcase will receive a “musician’s resource pack” filled with industry reference books and DVDs pertaining to publishing, touring, media airplay, video, management, licensing and more, courtesy of Hal Leonard – the world’s largest music print publisher.

Full backline will be provided by Cascio Interstate Music.

The afternoon panel discussion will provide artists, songwriters, producers, and any other music business enthusiasts some insight about the business, current industry trends, and other first hand information from professionals that are active in the field of music. These panelists will also be accepting demos for review from the panel attendees.

MOBfest Chicago has hosted many showcases with artists that went on to various levels of success including: The Killers (Island Def/Jam), Disturbed (Giant Reprise), Rachael Yamagata (RCA), Absentstar (Columbia), Assassins (Arista), The Redwalls (Capitol), Kill Hannah (Atlantic), and many more.
