Summary

The Modesto Art and Wine Festival is a very special event, now in its third year. It has top name entertainment on 3 stages, 40 bands, 150 artists (painters, sculptors, etc), an enormous and incredibly fun kids area and professional wine tasting. This year, the festival area will expand from 3 blocks to 4 blocks of downtown Modesto.

Attendance for the festival has grown dramatically over its first two years and had a total of 10,000 festival-goers in 2006. 15,000 people are expected attendance in 2007 .

Genres accepted: Anything acoustic-oriented (folk, singer/songwriter, etc), jazz, pop, country/Americana, blues, alternative, children’s music and reggae. Compensation will be based on draw in the Modesto area. Chances are, if you are not an artist who draws well in the area, you will not be paid.

The Modesto Art and Wine Festival is first and foremost a family festival and targets parents 25-40. One of the focal points of the festival is the kids area. This area features twelve 10 x 20 tents each featuring a unique and special art project and is hosted by certified art teachers. Although there is a $10 charge to come into the event, kids are free, and this makes the event more accessible for families. What this means for musical artists is that the material they perform MUST be clean (profanity-free) and family-friendly.

The Art and Wine Festival also brings together all the arts groups in Modesto to one festival. Troupes from the Yes Company and Townsend Opera Players perform and the Gallo Center will be having their grand opening walk through event and single ticket sales kick off at the Art and Wine festival this year. In addition, other groups like the Modesto Symphony and State Theater have booths.
