Summary

The 2006 Music Law Conference at the University of Florida, which will be held on February 4th, 2006 in Gainesville, Florida, features a multitude of opportunities for musicians. It is divided into two parts; a variety of panel discussions/listening sessions in the morning and afternoon, and a band showcase at night. Panelists (including lawyers, A&R reps, and others connected with the music industry) will delve into topics such as the legalities of starting your own record label, laws of international copyright, guerilla marketing, and how to deal with contracts.

There is also a listening session, in which various members of the music industry listen to and critique all of the participating bandsÂ’ demos. Bands are asked to bring their CD to the conference. At night, there will be a showcase featuring the bands selected through Sonicbids. The showcase will feature 10 bands - two venues of five bands each; industry professionals, attorneys, A&R reps, and hundreds of students will be on hand to listen to the performances.

There will also be an opportunity for your music to be included on the conference compilation CD.

All genres of music are accepted. As part of your submission fee you will receive four (4) passes for the conference. These passes include admission to panels, demo listenings, the luncheon, the reception and band showcases on Saturday, February 4th. Don't miss out on your chance to participate in a great networking and educational experience!
