The Musicoz Awards are Australia's premier music awards for unsigned artists. Musicoz is proud to be supported by the Australian Music industry and has been responsible for many success stories including: Sick Puppies, Porcelain (signed with Universal Music in U.S), Blue King Brown (Topped the Oz indie charts and played Live Earth Festival), Bliss n Eso (Signed to Elusive Records(Mushroom) and went to No.7 ARIA charts), Sender (Signed with Sont/BMG and went to #19 ARIA charts) and many more.

The Musicoz Awards have been nicknamed the "Unsigned ARIAs". 23 National Music awards presented for unsigned and independent artists across 17 categories of music.

If you are an independent or unsigned artist and you have or can get a recording together, you are eligible to enter The Annual Musicoz Awards. All you need is a few songs and a completed EPK.

4. Alternative (This category is for more indie sounds and any contemporary material that doesn’t fit into the other categories)

5. Acoustic/Singer-Songwriter (This category is for bands and solo artists that have a more of an acoustic feel to their tracks, you won’t find any distortion here. It’s also for singer/songwriters.)

6. Urban (This category is for contemporary RnB, Hip Hop, Rap, Beatbox, etc)

7. Dance/Electronica

8. Jazz/Classical

9. Blues/Roots

10. Country

11. World/Folk

12. International (This category is for any unsigned or independent artist hailing from outside Australia)

13. Christian/Spiritual

14. Schoolies (This category is for bands and solo artist that are still going to school. At least 1 person must be currently attending school up to and including year 12. Any genre or style of music is allowed.)

15. Live (This category is for live entries only. Either an audio recording of a live performance or a video recording of a live performance are required. Any genre or style of music is allowed.)

16. Instrumental (This category is for instrumentals only. Including production music, soundscapes, noise artists. Any genre or style of music is allowed.)

17. Video (This category is for independent and unsigned music videos. Any genre or style of music is allowed.)

Other Awards

The following awards are drawn from entries in the 17 categories. So to be eligible for all of the awards below, you just have to enter in 1 or more categories above.

Please note: Each artist may submit up to 5 times. If an artist submits 5 times, the sixth submission will be FREE.

The Musicoz Awards are open to all professional and amateur bands, singer/songwriters and musicians who are Australian citizens or currently residing in Australia. The International Category is the only category open to artists from outside Australia.

Terms And Conditions


1. The Musicoz Awards are open to all professional and amateur bands, singer/songwriters and musicians who are Australian citizens or currently residing in Australia. Publishing, management and distribution deals are allowed. Smaller indie labels not released through majors are also allowed. Judges and employees of the Musicoz organisation, and anyone already signed to a major record label or Artists signed to large indie labels (i.e. Shock) are ineligible.

2. Each entry must consist of completed and signed entry form, CD (no cassettes, DATs, minidisks) cheque/money order or credit card payment to:- MUSICOZ, PO BOX 1201 Wollongong NSW 2500. One overall publicity photo (300 dpi) and biography should also be included to be used should the entrant become a finalist or winner). All video clips must be on DVD. Each clip on seperate DVD if more than one is entered.

3. Each song entry must be on a separate CD and video on a separate DVD. All entry packages must be postmarked no later than 31st July 2006. MUSICOZ reserves the right to extend this date at its discretion. Contestants may enter up to four songs per category. Each entry per category will incur an entry fee except that every fourth song entry is free.

4. Each entry shall not infringe any copyrights or any other rights of any third parties. Songs previously released by a major label are not eligible. Each entrant shall, by entries, indemnify and hold MUSICOZ harmless from and against any claims inconsistent with foregoing. All entry fees are non-refundable. All materials submitted will not be returned. MUSICOZ is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected postage, overdue, stolen or misappropriated entries.

5. Winners will be selected by a panel consisting of top music industry professionals who may be substituted to availability or at the discretion of Musicoz. All songs entered are judged equally on originality and strength of melody, lyrics, composition and performance. Production qualities are not considered in judging.

6. The entrant shall (or shall cause copyright owner of the entry if different from the entrant) to agree to permit MUSICOZ to include any of the songs entered by the entrant on any official MUSICOZ CD/video/DVD/TV program/website or multi-media CD releases that are for promotional purposes only. The entrant also agrees to allow MUSICOZ to include any entered songs, any photos/likenesses, any video footage that will be used in any television broadcasts and any radio broadcasts, and as part of the MUSICOZ Awards ceremony and as a part of any press release or electronic media release.

7. Each entrant acknowledges that in the event that he/she is an award winner or finalist or entrant featured in the Musicoz Awards, then without compensation, MUSICOZ will have the right to publicise and print his/her name and photographic likeness and use any video footage that is either supplied by entrant or that is taken from entrant performing at a Musicoz event. And the fact that he/she won a prize in the Musicoz Awards and all related matters.

8. PRIZES -will be divided between 18 category winners, and other special award winners at the discretion of MUSICOZ and such other prizes as MUSICOZ may in its sole discretion award. Prizes will not be exchanged for cash or anything else. The judge's decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. All prizes must be claimed within one year of the 2006 Musicoz Awards. The Musicoz logo and mention that the artist is a Musicoz winner must be included on all CD s that make up any part of a prize. Musicoz and the fact that the artist are a MUSICOZ winner must be prominently included in all press releases and promotional material relating to the CD prize. The relevant prize/award sponsors must be prominently included in all media and CD releases relating to prize.

9.All entrants that become Musicoz Award Winners agree for their winning song to be included on the Musicoz Winners Compilation CD, and agree to enter into a non-exclusive licensing agreement with Musicoz Records which will be distributed through MGM Distribution.

10. Winners and finalists also agree to take all reasonable steps to attend the 2006 Musicoz Awards, and attend or perform at any functions as reasonably required by Musicoz sponsors (at sponsors expense)

11. Entrant agrees to be bound by MUSICOZ's entry procedures and established rules and regulations.
