Summary

Music Player Network, the world’s leading music instrument publishing company, has the honor of announcing the participation of acclaimed musicians in their inaugural consumer music summit, Music Player Live!. An array of well-respected artists – including Pat Metheny, Larry Carlton, Lisa Loeb and BT – representing all genres of music will be conducting seminars, taking part in panel discussions, participating in Question & Answer sessions, and giving impromptu, live performances at the Crowne Plaza Times Square, New York City, October 21st – 23rd, 2005.



There will be 30 performances over the course of the three-day event. There is at least one slot reserved for a Sonicbids artist to perform on the Broadway Stage on Friday, October 21st. The Broadway Stage will be in the Broadway Ballroom at the Crowne Plaza hotel. This is the opportunity to play an event that will attract 3,000-6,000 people. Friday, the day of the reserved performance, is special for two reasons: it's our "student day" and we're expecting students from all the music and recording colleges in the NY area and also VH1 will be there that day filming their Top 20 Countdown, so there is a chance for some national exposure!



Music Player Live! is also hosting The Les Paul Tribute and Celebration Concert. Many big-name artists – such as Larry Carleton, Lisa Loeb, Adrian Belew, Jon Brion, Billy Burnette, Doug Wimbish and Robben Ford – have come on board to celebrate Les Paul and his many achievements spanned throughout his 90 years.



Artists confirmed for Music Player Live! are Les Paul (keynote speaker), Pepper's Ghost, Pat Metheny, BT, Jimmy Douglass, Jon Brion, Bakhiti Kumalo, Francis Preve, Lisa Loeb, Rob Balducci, Arif Mardin, Scott Tibbs, David Ellefson, Gerald Veasley, Robben Ford, Peter Kirn, Eric Krasno, Robert Marcello, Shawn Pelton, Johnny Rabb, Adrian Belew, Bruce Gertz, Dean Fields, Will Lee, Felicia Collins, Doug Wimbish, Vernon Reid, Claude Coleman, Jr., Paul Turpin, Scott Healy, Tamara Conniff, Joe Mardin, Ron Carter, Sandy Gennaro, Larry Carlton, Guy Licata, John Davis, and James Blood Ulmer.



Music Player Live! is a thrilling, totally over-the-top extravaganza for anyone interested in making music. To ensure that all levels of interest are thoroughly covered, the event is multi-layered and multi-faceted. MPL! offers a chance to hang with stars, professional musicians, and the people who make the hardware (guitars, basses, keyboards, drums, etc.) and software (recording programs, effects plug-ins, etc.) that helps translate inspiration into music.

Please note: Artists traveling to Music Player Live! are responsible for their own travel arrangements. Also note that selected artists will be notified around 1 week before the conference begins. All submissions will be accepted but we recommend that your act be driving distance to NYC. Please check the MPL! web site for information on special conference rates at the Crowne Plaza New York. Selected artists will be provided with complimentary conference registration.
