Summary

The third annual NEK Music Festival takes place on Friday and Saturday, Aug 5-6, 2005, at The Chilly Ranch in Albany, VT, a private and exquisitely beautiful natural setting in remote but accessible Northeastern Vermont (10 minutes off I-91 North exit 25).

We have 1 slot reserved for a Sonicbids member for Saturday Aug 6 and are looking for a high energy, dynamic, danceable bluegrass or newgrass band to perform, along the lines of the Snake Oil Medicine Show, Greasy Beans, etc. Main or tent stage will be decided depending on act and rest of lineup, but we have no serious difference in the talent playing on either stage, as the venue, though spacious, is quite intimate. The selected artist will also be compensated for their performance ($250-400), along with camping accommodations, meals and a backline.

The Northeast Kingdom Music Festival is an eclectic, 2 day and night camping festival that books roots and rhythm oriented, danceable music in many genres including hip-hop, reggae, bluegrass/Americana, rock, funk/jazz and world music. We are independent and accept no corporate sponsorship, only local companies that have a reasonably solid social mission or are at the very least considered "good" companies. We are family friendly, but not watered down, and it turns into quite a party at night. We do it old-school style, with BYOB - we do not sell alcohol. We attract a multi-generational crowd that is conscious and appreciative of fine musicianship, and fully expect to grow into perhaps the premier independent music festival in the Northeast U.S. We have an amazing site with a 48'x24' 100% timber frame main stage from trees harvested and milled on site, which is the centerpiece of our venue. We are currently set up for 2000-2500 attendees, with potential expansion for the future.

Notable Past Acts include: Soulive, The Headhunters, The Meditations, Israel Vibration, Hieroglyphics, The Slip, Cyro Baptista and Beat the Donkey, Otiel Burbridge and the Peacemakers, Kaki King, Screaming Headless Torsos, The Tony Trischka Band, Snake Oil Medicine Show, Spam All-Stars, The Greyhounds and more...
