Summary
NewMusicWest is a chance for emerging new artists and bands to showcase their talents to some of the top industry professionals in North America and around the world.
Once a year, Vancouver is swarming with large numbers of managers, publicists, label reps, A&R, media, and all sorts of music industry folk. The 17th annual NewMusicWest will be held May 14 - 18, 2008 at over 25 venues around Vancouver. Over 200 bands will perform with 20 slots reserved exclusively for Sonicbids artists!
Past event performers include Matthew Good, The Flaming Lips, Liz Phair, Nickelback, Hot Hot Heat, Sam Roberts, My Morning Jacket, Stars and The Lowest of the Low.
In 2007, NewMusicWest had over 40 A&R reps from labels such as Sony, Universal, EMI, Warner, and many more from Canada, the US and around the world. This is a perfect environment for new talent to be discovered!
In addition to the festival component of the event, there is a conference portion that has featured keynote addresses by artists such as Gene Simmons, Matthew Good, Chad Kroeger, Marilyn Manson, Raine Maida, as well as Terry McBride (Nettwerk) and Jason Miller (HOB).
