Summary

Now in its 20th year, Noise Pop is San Francisco’s premiere celebration of independent music, film and art since 1993. It attracts over 20,000 music fans and features performances from more than 150 bands.

Opportunities vary from opening up for headlining acts to playing other Noise Pop events, and pay varies depending on the situation. This year, there are at least 5 performance slots reserved for Sonicbids artists. Selected artists will be compensated.

Past performers include The White Stripes, Spoon, Aesop Rock, Modest Mouse, The Flaming Lips, and many more./n/nJUST ANNOUNCED: Thao with the Get Down Stay Down, John Vanderslice, Big Freedia, The Dodos, Wye Oak and more have been confirmed to perform at Noise Pop 20.


Now in its 20th year, Noise Pop is San Francisco's premiere celebration of independent music, film and art since 1993. The festival attracts over 20,000 independent music fans and scores of bands each year to San Francisco. Over 150 alternative bands will play the 2012 edition of Noise Pop - situations vary from opening up for headlining acts to playing other Noise Pop events, and pay varies depending on the situation.

For 2012, Sonicbids has worked with Noise Pop to reserve a minimum of 5 performance slots for Sonicbids artists. All selected artists will be compensated.


The festival will take place in February 2012 and will have events in venues around the city (including The Bottom Of The Hill, Bimbo's, and Great American Music Hall). In addition to the music festival, Noise Pop also includes a film festival, gallery art shows, a craft fair and a music industry conference. Confirmed performers for Noise Pop 2012 include Built To Spill, Archers of Loaf, Die Antwoord, Surfer Blood, Cursive, Budos Band, Craig Finn (The Hold Steady), Thao with the Get Down Stay Down, John Vanderslice, Big Freedia, The Dodos, Wye Oak and more.

Noise Pop has hosted the most influential artists of our time including The White Stripes, Death Cab For Cutie, Modest Mouse, Jimmy Eat World, The Flaming Lips, Ted Leo, The Shins, Aesop Rock, Bright Eyes, Wolfmother, Spoon, Peanut Butter Wolf, Yo La Tengo, The Magnetic Fields, Antony and the Johnsons, and Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, to name a few.
