Summary

The 2016 NXNE festival is looking for least 40 Sonicbids artists for its annual festival taking place in Toronto, Ontario. All selected artists will receive full festival accreditation. Open applications will be taken for a limited time and will be free for artists from all over the world.

The Opportunity

NXNE is a raging annual five day summer festival and conference, mostly centered around a collective love for music. Visual art, comedy and film are also part of this packed cultural explosion. NXNE also features an Interactive conference that explores how music and emerging technologies connect, challenge and thrive. Celebrating their 22nd year in 2016, the annual festival takes over Toronto with showcases, screenings, panels, parties, installations, and lots more. In celebration of this historic anniversary, and in appreciation of the community of musicians that have supported the event for over 2 decades, applications to play showcases at the festival will be free of charge.

Future Islands, St Vincent, The Flaming Lips, Grimes, Ludacris, Tune Yards, Oneohtrix Point Never, Run The Jewels, A$AP Ferg, The National, Spoon, Juicy J, Danny Brown, Mac DeMarco, Pusha T, Swans

The Band

  • Artists of all genres will be considered
  • Artists from all over the world are encouraged to submit
  • NXNE does not accept cover bands
  • Most shows have 19+ age requirement

The Gig

Details:

  • NXNE provides all standard backline to all official NXNE venues including parks, outdoor, and house parties
  • There are no guest lists for any official NXNE events
  • All sets are 40 minutes with 20 minute changeovers 
Additional Compensation Details:
  • Band members will receive festival accreditation
  • Canadian artists can opt for $100 payout in lieu of festival accreditation 
  • Opportunity to be featured in press coverage from accredited media, including Pitchfork, Brooklyn Vegan, Consequence of Sound, Vice, Filter, Exclaim!
  • Artists may sell merch at venue(s) and at NXNE general store and retain 100% of sales. NXNE provides merch seller to General store only. Band is responsible for merch seller at venue(s)
