Summary

The deadline to submit to the New York Songwriters Circle Songwriting Contest is coming soon. The contest offers $25,000+ in cash and prizes. Grand Prize is $10,000, a live performance on "The 10! Show" on NBC Philly, and more. 2nd place = $3,000 cash, plus prizes. 3rd place = $1,500, etc./n/nWith over $25,000 in cash and prizes, more opportunities and more great music then ever before, New York Songwriters Circle is excited to welcome you to the 2009 Songwriting Contest. With the recent success of past winners including Kate Voegele, Company Of Thieves and Mieka Pauley, NYSC is once again looking forward to hearing from the best songwriters out there today, from all across the world and in all genres.

Grand Prize

HOW SUBMISSIONS ARE PROCCESSED

All submissions were reviewed and screened by a professional listening team consisting of music professionals, established songwriters and industry taste makers directed by Tina Shafer, the circle's artistic director. Each submission is also reviewed for the opportunity of being featured in NYSC's award-winning, ongoing showcase series in New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago and/or Los Angeles, as well as many special NYSC events throughout the year.

Additionally all submissions are added to the circle's online music database and are tagged with specific terms that allow for easy access in future placement opportunities in films, TV shows and advertisements, as well as other content opportunities.

FINALISTS AND JUDGES

12 Finalists will be selected to advance to the finals. During 2 live music events, November 18th and 19th, 2009* at the legendary Bitter End in New York City the 12 finalists will perform their songs live in front of a blue ribbon panel of judges and crowds of enthusiastic fans, from which the winners will be voted on a silent ballot in what is considered by many the top NY songwriting event of the year. (*finals date subject to change).

Judges include John Oates, Russ Titelman, Jonathan Clarke, Rob Mathes, Alan Merrill and Mark Eichner

ADDITIONAL AWARDS CATEGORIES

The International Award
The International Award is an additional award launched in 2007 to allow one amazing songwriters who originates from anywhere outside the US the opportunity to expose their music right to the heart of the US Songwriting world and launch their careers stateside as well as a $1000 Cash prize. All submissions from members who originate from anywhere in the world except the US are automatically considered for this award in addition to our general awards and prizes.

Young Songwriter Award

The Young Songwriter Award was launched in 2007 dedicated to supporting one great young songwriter (under 18) launch their music career and showcase their craft, as well as a $1,000 cash prize. All submissions from members who are under 18 at the time of submission are automatically considered for this award in addition to our general awards and prizes.

All song submissions must be in English.
