Compensation for emerging artists is $150 and a wristband for each band member. At least 15 Sonicbids artists are guaranteed to perform during the event.

Originally drawing inspiration from successful festivals such as Pop Montreal, Austin’s SXSW, Calgary's Sled Island, Seattle's Capitol Hill Block Party and local festival Music Waste, Olio experienced an unquestionably successful debut in 2009 eclipsed only by a bigger & bolder return in 2010. With its second outing now in the history books, Olio is in the preparing stages for a more ambitious return in 2011. Olio Festival enjoyed an incredibly successful debut in August 2009 and an even stronger follow-up in 2010. Notable 2010 successes include 6,500+ attendees (nearly doubling 2009’s count of 3500 attendees, totaling 10,000+ attendees over 2 years), 40+ events spanning the city of Vancouver, media sponsorship from the CBC Radio3, Exclaim! Magazine, Red Bull Canada & The Georgia Straight, and the debuted “Olio Festival Beer” crafted & sold specifically for the festival by Phillips Brewery.



Past out of town Olio Festival headliners have included Chad VanGaalen, Shout Out Out Out Out, The Very Best, Tanlines, Maluca, Toy Selectah, StreetCarnage featuring Gavin McInnes and Derrick Beckles, Smalltown DJs, Team Canada DJs, legendary psyche poster artist Bob Masse and over 750 local artists of all mediums.



Olio Festival 2011 is set to run September 22-24, 2011 with over 30+ Music – Comedy – Art – Film events planned to unfold over 3 days in 4 unique Vancouver artistic communities with Olio Festival’s “neighborhood crawl” programming.
