Olio Festival, expecting to bring in close to 10,000 attendees, is a multi-media arts festival locally curated and self-financed by promoters and lovers of independent music, comedy, film and art within the city of Vancouver. Originally drawing inspiration from successful festivals such as Pop Montreal, Austin’s SXSW, Calgary's Sled Island, Seattle's Capitol Hill Block Party and local festival Music Waste, Olio experienced an unquestionably successful debut in 2009 and has been growing exponentially each year. Compensation for emerging artists is $150 per artist/group and a wristband for each band member.

At least 20 Sonicbids artists are guaranteed to perform during the event.

Past out of town Olio Festival music headliners have included: Cave Singers, Suuns, Chromatics, Glass Candy, J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr, Ladyhawk, Active Child, Braids, Teen Daze, AraabMuzik, Jokers of The Scene, Keys N Krates, DJ Tittsworth, Malajube, Besnard Lakes, The Pack A.D., Bonjay, Chad VanGaalen, Shout Out Out Out Out, The Very Best, Tanlines, Maluca, Toy Selectah, Smalltown DJs, Team Canada DJs, 1000 local artists of all mediums.

Past sponsors have included: CBC Radio3, Exclaim! Magazine, Red Bull Canada, The Georgia Straight, Cariboo Brewing, Scion, Hemlock Printers, Sandman Hotels, and Aritzia.

Olio Festival 2012 is set to run September 20-23, 2012 with over 30 music, comedy, art, film, fashion and skateboarding events planned to unfold over 4 days.

Olio Festival enjoyed a successful debut in August 2009 and has grown exponentially each year since. 2011 saw over 8,500 attendees with 80% of the 40 events across the city sold out. Olio 2011 proudly included many incredibly unique events including: a Master Class with Tommy Wisseau director and lead actor of cult classic "The Room", the launch of their first annual Color Magazine pro skateboarding competition "Jamcouver", a Shepard Fairey art print show, and a Classic Comedy Roast of Vancouver's Mayor Gregor Robertson. For 2012 the team has more improvements up their sleeves including the addition of a fashion element!
