Summary
The 7th annual Orangeville Blues & Jazz Festival will feature music in 25 clubs and 4 outdoor stages with free all day concerts in beautiful downtown Orangeville Ontario from June 4th - 7th, 2009. This four-day event attracts over 18,000 people to the most exciting and loved music festival north of Toronto, which includes workshops and number of club gigs around town.
Past performers have included award winning musicians such as The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Garrett Mason, Jane Bunnett, former Muddy Waters drummer Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, Rob McConnell Tentet, African Guitar Summit, Joe Sealy, Jack DeKeyzer, Pat Labarbara and Fathead.
Last year, Sonicbids artist Little G Weevil was flown in all the way from Hungary and put on the main stage.
Most acts participating are independent artists. 10 slots are available. Accepted genres include blues, jazz, Latin, acoustic, folk, blues/rock, gospel, funk and soul. All artists will be compensated. Compensation amount will be negotiated upon selection.
Workshops have been everything from drum circles to "jam with a pro".
The event is sponsored by the merchants of Downtown Orangeville, Government of Ontario, TD Canada Trust and RE/MAX.
