Oxford Rhythm Revival 2010

As a community effort, the nightclubs on the square in Oxford, Mississippi are working with the Arts Council and local music promoters to create a new summer music event- the Oxford Rhythm Revival. They are now seeking performers to play the event, and have guaranteed to select a minimum of 5 Sonicbids artists. Those selected to perform will receive cash for their performance./n/nAs a community effort, the nightclubs on the square in Oxford, Mississippi are working with the Arts Council and local music promoters to create a new summer music event- the Oxford Rhythm Revival. They are now seeking performers to play the event, and have guaranteed to select a minimum of 5 Sonicbids artists. This event will feature a free daytime family event on the square and will then move into five nightclubs surrounding the square at night to highlight a rotating lineup of artists. Those selected to perform will receive cash for their performance. The amount will vary based on meals and the distance of the band’s lodgings from the event. The focus of the event will be on performers who preserve Americana and roots music.


Sponsors for the event include by the Roosters Blues Club, Taylor Pub, Proud Larry's, the Oxford Medical Ministry, and the Oxford Arts Council. Supporters are looking to build on the lively music scene supported by the local university. They expect about 1,500 attendees this inaugural year. Twenty bands will be scheduled to perform.
