Summary

The Paste Beat is an audio channel on American Airlines domestic AND international flights (channel 5) that is sponsored by Paste Magazine and Beat Marketing. It is a 2 hour looped program professionally hosted by Gary Thompson.

As a Holiday offering to the Sonicbids community, The Paste Beat is spreading Holiday cheer in a number of ways. For the DECEMBER 2008 program The Paste Beat is lowering the Sonicbids submission rate back down to $10 for the first submission and $5 for each additional submission. December is the BUSIEST air travel month of the year, easily eclipsing the 4.2 million passengers per month average that fly American Airlines worldwide.

The music from Sonicbids has been so solid that The Paste Beat is going to:

  • Guarantee to select a minimum of 5 Sonicbids artists
  • As a bonus, they are going to select at least ONE previously selected artist from either the September, October, or November programs (provided that previous selected artists submit for December).

Each artist featured on The Paste Beat will receive:

  • One or more tracks that are fully back announced in the audio program.
  • Listing in the American Airlines in-flight magazine called "On".
  • Listing on the on-line channel guide on aa.com.
  • A cut in a full page ad in Paste Magazine (color).
  • Product exposure at all CIMS independent retail locations across the country. They use special Paste Beat bin cards to give Paste Beat titles extra exposure.

Genres accepted include any type of eclectic music: rock, alternative, world, etc. Nothing too heavy will be accepted.

The Paste Beat normally charges $2,800 per track for this opportunity. However, Sonicbids artists will pay only the submission fee. There are NO additional costs.

Submissions must be received by September 18th to be eligible for the December program. This is your chance to expose your music to the 4.2 million American Airlines passengers who fly in the each month.

Instrumental Music Sub Offer: This is specifically for the many GREAT artists that have submitted instrumental tracks. To best showcase the instrumental music, The Paste Beat wants to feature it as bed music that is played in between music sets and behind the back announcer at points. The good news is, the music is played at many points throughout the 2 hour show and the back announcer will make verbal reference to the artist and track title of the instrumental music selected for the program. What you need to understand is, your instrumental track will not get played in it's entirety during the show. You will get into the Paste Magazine full page ad like any other selected track. Any instrumental tracks submitted for the DECEMBER 2008 Paste Beat program will be considered submissions for the instrumental bed music first and foremost, and if a track happens to be so stunning and perfect, it could also be considered for the main show as well.

More about Paste Magazine and Beat Marketing:

Perhaps the hottest music/lifestyle magazine in the US, Paste Magazine provides 45 minutes of THEIR exclusive audio content to the American Airlines channel, making the channel a joy to music fans as there is a plethora of great music that they can't hear anywhere else. Beat Marketing has been in business for nearly 5 years and runs a premier lifestyle marketing program delivering music to a large network of cafes across the country.

Please note: Selected artists must provide CD quality music either by overnight delivery or via Beat Marketing's private ftp (credentials will be provided). Unsolicited demo CDs and emails not directly submitted through Sonicbids will not be accepted.

Tips for being selected: Submit songs under 4:00 in length or as close to 4:00 as possible. Submit songs that don't have long introductions...get to the music as they don't want people flipping the channel! Lyrics must be clean not overtly sexual, and non-offensive- no references to crashes, bombs, hijackings, etc. There were a larger number of mid-tempo songs submitted for November. The Paste Beat also needs tracks that are somewhat upbeat. Mid-Tempo songs are fine, but the show needs a variety.
