The St Jerome's Laneway Festival is coming to Perth for the very first time in a special twilight event. The Path to Laneway is a competition in which you can earn your slot on St Jerome's Laneway Festival on 6th February, at the Perth Cultural Centre. The festival will feature performances by Girl Talk, Stereolab, Architechture in Helsinki, The Hold Steady, The Drones, Cut Off Your Hands, Four Tet, Tame Impala, El Guincho, Jay Reatard, Buraka Som Sistema, The Temper Trap, No Age, The John Steel Singers, Canyons, Pivot, Port O'Brien, Holly Throsby, Born Ruffians, Mountains in the Sky, Time Fite, Still Flyin, Daedelus, Spiral Stairs and so many more great acts.

12 Sonicbids acts will be chosen to compete in Path to Laneway's 3 heats on the 7th, 14th, and 21st Jan at the Rosemount Hotel in Perth. The first place winners from each heat and one lucky wildcard competing at the Final on Wednesday 28th January. The winner of the Final will be invited to play at the St Jerome's Laneway Festival at the Perth Cultural Centre.

Submissions will be accepted from all emerging, original, unsigned (to a major record label) Western Australian acts. All band members must be over 18 years old to enter.

Terms And Conditions


Information on how to enter and prizes form part of the conditions of entry. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
Entry is via Sonicbids only
Employees of Sunset Events, their agents, contractors, consultants and their immediate families (including de facto spouses) or any other persons assisting with the competition are not eligible to enter.
The Promoter, in its absolute discretion, reserves the right to verify the validity of all entries and to disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process, including but not limited to, who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Conditions of Entry.
The Promoter is Sunset Events (50 230 353 163) of PO Box 111 Fremantle WA 6959 (Promoter).
Only one entry per band will be accepted.
The band must be original, and must not be signed to a major record label.
Band members must be Australian residents, and all members must live in the state of Western Australia.
All entrants must be over the age of 18 years old.
Bands will be selected to play in the heats and successful entrants will be notified on Monday December 22nd 2008. The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding their decision.
Bands selected for the heats can play for no more than 30 minutes.
All material must be original.
All bands must use the sound engineers provided by Sunset Events.
One of the tracks submitted in the entry (or part there of) may be published on our website for promotional purposes.
All decisions taken by the Sunset Events are final
The major prize for the Path to Laneway 2009 competition will consist of an invitation to play at the St Jeromes Laneway Festival 2009 in Perth.
The prize is not transferable, divisible or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash
If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned (including but not limited to) technical failures, unauthorised intervention, fraud or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and, subject to any written directions given by the various Lottery Departments, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition.
The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for personal injury which is suffered or sustained, as a result of entering the competition or taking any of the prizes, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
All entries become the property of the Promoter. By entering the competition entrants understand and agree that the Promoter (and its affiliates and companies that work for the Promoter) may use and disclose the information provided by them by entering the information into a database for future promotional, marketing or publicity purposes, subject to any applicable privacy laws.
The Promoter collects entrants personal information in order to conduct the promotion. If the information requested is not provided, the entrant may not participate in the promotion. By entering the promotion, unless otherwise advised, each entrant also agrees that the Promoter may use this information, in any media for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes without any further reference, payment or other compensation to the entrant, including sending the entrant electronic messages. Entrants personal information may be disclosed to State and Territory lottery departments and winners names published as required under the relevant lottery legislation. A request to access, update or correct any information should be directed to the Promoter at their address set out below.
