The Local NY will be booking Sonicbids artists on an ongoing basis. It's that time of the year for local to come and play at one of NYC's best intimate music venue! The Local is looking for awesome bands to play throughout the summer. With a dedicated local following, this is a great way to build your reputation in and play with other great bands.

Selected artists will receive free beverages and a tip bucket is passed.

The Opportunity

The Local NY is a new modern hostel in Long Island City. The Local NY prides itself on having a built-in international crowd for every performer, plus a delicious local craft beer list.

Performances are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  There is an open mic on Monday nights. Each performance features 3 artists and the capacity of the venue is 75.

Consistent gigs are available!

The Band

  • Preferred genres include indie, folk, acoustic, electronic, jazz, pop
  • Original music is preferred, though cover bands will be considered
  • Plugged in bands are permitted however the venue cannot host a full drum kit
  • Solo artists and full bands will both be considered
  • Family-friendly acts are preferred
  • The Local is all ages for bands
  • Bands must be actively playing shows 
  • Bands must be willing to heavily promote the show if chosen to play
  • Bands are able to sell merch on-site


The Gig


  • Sets are typically 35-40 mins
  • A small PA with 2 mics will be provided
  • A Peavey combo amp for guitar or keyboard will be provided; drums are not permitted, however the venue does allow cocktail kits / drum machines for quieter bands
Additional Compensation Details:
  • Bands receive free beverages and a tip bucket is passed; there is never a cover at The Local 
  • Selected artists will be featured on flyers in the hostel, and on all social media sites
  • Bands can sell merch on-site
