Artists selected will become eligible to win cash prizes totaling up to $449,000./n/nArt Prize is a 3 week Festival taking place from September 21 - October 9, 2011 in Grand Rapids, MI. The goal of ArtPrize is for the general public and artists to collide, exchange ideas and come away changed.

Prospecto Musical Showcase and Sonic Experience 2011 will include a curated, interactive music listening ArtPrize venue hosted at the Intersection. They are looking for artists of all genres from all over the country to submit their 2-5 minute piece of music with a visual (music videos, static image, or slide show) which will be featured a main screen with professional sounds system as well as on-demand dynamic audio/visual listening stations for venue visitors. Artists selected will become eligible to win cash prizes totaling up to $449,000, including a $250,000 first prize.



Sonicbids artists will be competing against all mediums of art for the winning prizes. Prize money will be awarded as follows:

• 1st: $250,000


• 2nd: $100,000


• 3rd: $50,000


• 4th: $7,000


• 5th: $7,000


• 6th: $7,000


• 7th: $7,000


• 8th: $7,000


• 9th: $7,000


• 10th: $7,000

In addition to submitting a video, artists must submit a 200-500 word description of the piece. A jury of Prospecto and Intersection staff will select 20 of the submitted pieces as ArtPrize artists, 10 of which are reserved for Sonicbids Artists. Following the selection process these artists will be entered as ArtPrize contestants with the opportunity to win cash prizes totaling $449,000. ArtPrize attendees will be able to vote for artists on an individual level just like any other Artprize artists.

Prospecto and Sonicbids will be covering the $50 artist registration fee required of all 10 Sonicbids artists chosen. Further artist eligibility to review is available on their website.

Prospecto will be offering selected artists a chance to perform at their music showcase held Friday, September 30 - Sunday, October 2 at three venues: The Intersection, The Pyramid Scheme and Founders Brewery Tap Room. All three stages have top of the line sound and lighting rigs and will be manned by a professional sound engineer and Prospecto staff. Artists who opt to perform, must provide their own travel and lodging accommodations. Discounted rates at local hotels may be provided through Prospecto.

• The Intersection (http://www.sectionlive.com/) is a 1100 capacity venue, it is the largest of the three. The Intersection is split into two rooms: a front bar and a back stage area. The ArtPrize entries will be housed in the front room of the Intersection, and will be open to the public everyday for the three week duration of ArtPrize. The stage will feature the "headline" acts but will also have room for openers and regional acts.

  The Pyramid Scheme (http://www.pyramidschemebar.com/) is a brand new venue that is actually having their first show tonight. Similar to the Intersection it is split into a front bar and backroom live music venue. The total capacity is 625 (200 front / 425 back). This will house Pitchfork-style up-and-comers as well as openers and regionals.
