Supershow Singer/Songwriter Performer Contest 2009

The RBC Multicultural Festival presents the emerging Singer/Songwriter Performers Contest 2009 to encourage the art of independent performing singer-songwriters. The contest is open to singer/songwriters in Nova Scotia who write and perform original music, and who are not currently signed to a major recording or publishing deal or haven’t released a commercially distributed CD. The contest seeks singer/songwriters from the pop/rock and adult contemporary genre. All you have to do to enter the contest and become one of the TWELVE (12) finalists is to send in two (2) original songs either written or co-written by you.



A contestant is allowed a maximum of three (3) entries. Each entry will have two (2) songs. Co-written songs are permitted, but the person who enters the song must be the one who sings them if selected as a finalist. Each song must not have been awarded any other prize in any other competition at the time of entry. The judges’ decisions are final and will not be open to appeal. Entry implies acceptance of the contest’s rules and conditions.



The twelve selected finalists will be invited to perform on Saturday, June 20th, 2009. No backup musicians allowed; this is a solo competition! They will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. The first place winner will get the opportunity to perform two songs on the Main Stage Friday evening, June 26th where internationally acclaimed recording artists will be part of our Pop/ Rock Concert – “The Supershow”. This Concert will be held at the Events Plaza, Alderney Landing, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.



The second and third placed winners will get an opportunity to perform their songs Saturday and/or Sunday on one of the stages at the Festival. The first, second and third placed winners will give the RBC Multicultural Festival permission to record and/or publish the songs in a possible future collection of contest winning songs. The contestant or the writer(s) retains copyright to the work.



All TWELVE finalists will be given two (2) complimentary Friday Weekend Passes each to attend the Friday evening, June 26th “Supershow” so that the finalists and their guests may join us for all of the weekend festivities.
