Reel Music Festival is organized by the Music Business Management students at Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario. Over the past 11 years, Reel Music Festival has become the most anticipated event in Durham Region and a destination for the most exciting lineups of emerging local talent, unsigned bands, indie favourites, and major-label headlining artists. A cornerstone of Reel Music Festival is the live music showcases. This year's event will feature six showcases: Rock, Metal, Country, Acoustic, Ska/Punk, and Electro. The Reel Music Festival is looking for local, regional, and national talent touring through town. Compensation will be determined shortly, but will most likely include a percentage of ticket sales. Artist may sell Merchandise and receive 100% of the profits. A sound system will be provided at the venue, but the artists must provide their own instruments and amps.



The festival includes a tradeshow, a songwriter's competition, a short film and video contest, music clinics, topical seminars, engaging workshops, and inspiring music showcases. It takes place from March 30 - April 2, 2011 with showcases on April 1 and 2. Artists have an opportunity to play for over 500 festival attendees on one of the 6 festival stages.




Past performers include illScarlett, Mobile, Hello Beautiful, Organ Thieves, Cuff the Duke, Young Rival, Ion Dissonance, President, Aberdeen, Rides Again, The Ocean Buried, Not by Choice, and many others. The list will only continue to grow in 2011. This year's sponsors include The SOCAN Foundation.
