Summary

Regina Folk Festival is an annual event that takes place every summer in Victoria Park. The festival accepts many genres beyond just folk.

The 2012 festival will be the festival's 43rd anniversary. The festival will be held August 10-12, 2012.

At least 3 slots are reserved for Sonicbids artists, and as many as 10 Sonicbids artists may be selected to perform.


All selected artists will be paid and will receive accommodations including hotel rooms, meals, drinks, massages, and more.

Recent performers include k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang, Andrew Bird, KT Tunstall, Fred Penner, Taj Mahal, and Hawksley Workman./n/nThe Regina Folk Festival is an annual event that takes place every summer in Victoria Park. The 2012 festival will be the festival's 43rd anniversary.


All selected artists will be paid although the amount will vary depending on the point where the artist is in their career. Additionally, all artists will receive hotel accommodations (1 double for each 2 members of the group). There is also festival hospitality which includes meals, drinks, massage and other such perks.


The 2011 lineup included: k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang, Andrew Bird, KT Tunstall, Fred Penner, Taj Mahal, Hawksley Workman, Dan Mangan, Coeur de pirate, Etran Finatawa, Aurelio Martinez, Marco Calliari, The Sojourners, Shakura SÂ’Aida, Library Voices, Braids, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Slow Down, Molasses, Hard Ramblers, The Secret Sisters, Zachary Lucky, Jeffery Straker, Indigo Joseph, e.s.l., Cris Derksen, Grant Lawrence, Shot Jimmie, Judy & Greg, Fada Dance, Rah Rah and Hey Ocean.

Artists who submit should fall somewhere within the following genres: acoustic, alt country, Americana, bluegrass, blues, Celtic, children's music, country, electronica, folk, funk, hip hop, jazz, Latin, reggae, singer/songwriter, spoken word, and world. A minimum of 3 and as many as 10 Sonicbids bands will be selected to perform.

SASK SAMPLER:

The Regina Folk Festival is partnering with the Ness Creek Music Festival and the Gateway Festival to present some of the best independent artists Saskatchewan has to offer at the SASK SAMPLER on April 21st, 2012. Hosted at the Bushwakker Brewpub on Dewdney Ave., this additional opportunity puts homegrown acts in front of Artistic Directors from these fine SaskatchewanÂ’s Festivals. Artists must submit before February 15, 2012 to be considered for the Sask Sampler. Only artists from Saskatchewan are eligible for this additional event.
