Summary

Regina Folk Festival is an annual event that takes place every summer in Victoria Park. The festival accepts many genres beyond just folk.



All selected artists will be paid and will receive accommodations of some kind - billets for day time artists and hotels for main stage artists. Recent performers include Broken Social Scene, Iron & Wine, The Wailers, Michael Franti & Spearhead, The Weakerthans, Corb Lund and Suzanne Vega.

At least one slot is reserved for a Sonicbids artist, and as many as 15 Sonicbids artists may be selected to perform./n/nThe Regina Folk Festival is an annual event that takes place every summer in Victoria Park. The 2011 festival will be the festival's 42nd anniversary.

All selected artists will be paid although the amount will vary depending on the point where the artist is in their career. Additionally, all artists will receive accommodations of some kind - billets for day time artists and hotels for main stage artists. There is also festival hospitality which includes meals, drinks, massage and other such perks.

Previous performers include Calexico, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Aurelio Martinez, Sarah Harmer, Arrested Development, Broken Social Scene, Iron & Wine, Michael Franti & Spearhead, The Weakerthans, Corb Lund, Suzanne Vega, The Wailers, Bedouin Soundclash, Jully Black, Kathleen Edwards, Ramblin Jack Elliott, Final Fantasy and Great Lake Swimmers.

Artists who submit should fall somewhere within the following genres: old country, bluegrass, operatic rock, world, spoken word, singer/songwriter, roots and blues, Celtic, funk, reggae and jazz. A minimum of one and as many as fifteen Sonicbids bands will be selected to perform.



Just Announced: The Regina Folk Festival is also partnering with the Bushwakker Brewing company to present some of the best independent artists Saskatchewan has to offer at the SASK SAMPLER on April 30th. Hosted at the Bushwakker Brewpub on Dewdney Ave., this additional opportunity puts homegrown acts in from of Saskatchewan’s Festival Artistic Directors. Only Saskatchewanian artists will be considered for this additional event.
