Summary
Rhythm & Roots is New England's Hottest Festival of Roots Music and Dance with 4 stages of top notch entertainment. Already confirmed is this year's host band: The 2008 Grammy-nominated Pine Leaf Boys.
This year's Rhythm & Roots Festival will be held in Ninigret Park in Charlestown, RI during Labor Day weekend, August 29 - 31, 2008. Submissions are welcome from artists who perform Cajun, Zydeco, Blues, Tex-Mex, Celtic, Alt-Country, Swing, etc.
All selected artists will be compensated. The amount will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Attendance is roughly 5,000 people per day, with a grand total of over 12,000 people.
Last Year's performers included great artists like Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Marty Stuart & the Fabulous Superlatives, Natalie MacMaster, Los Straitjackets with Big Sandy, Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys, Gandalf Murphy & the Slambovian Circus of Dreams, The Pine Leaf Boys, Corey Ledet's Zydeco Band, etc.
Sponsors include Mohegan Sun, Rounder Records, Red Hook Ale, Newport Vineyards, Collings Guitars, Coca-Cola, mvyradio, WRIU, WJZS, Very Special Arts of RI and Thirsty Lizards Web Developers.
