Summary

Tennessee is widely recognized as the birthplace of popular musical genres including rock & roll, blues, and country. Traditional mountain music from the hills of Appalachia evolved into what is today categorized as bluegrass and American Roots. The smoky, distinctly southern vibe of Memphis blues and soul are instantly recognizable, and had a strong influence on the early rock & roll released by the venerable Sun Records. Country music is said to have been born in Bristol and raised in Knoxville before going corporate in Music City.

The local culture in Tennessee is undeniably flavored by our music and in return, our music has had an impact on popular culture worldwide. Elvis, Johnny Cash, the Carter Family, Otis Redding, B.B. King, Dolly Parton, Aretha Franklin, Booker T. Jones, Chet Atkins, Gregg and Duane Allman, and Tina Turner are just a few of the Tennesseans who are recognized as driving forces in their genres.

Rhythm N Blooms celebrates Tennessees role in American Roots music including but not limited to country, jazz, blues, bluegrass, and rock by featuring musical performances by locally-revered and nationally renowned artists. They arent all from Tennessee; and some of them arent even from the United States, but their music has been undeniably influenced by those styles popularized right in our back yard.

The three-day festival encompasses some of the most unique venues in Knoxville. Friday and Saturday take place in various venues throughout Knoxville's historic downtown, while Sunday is held on the grounds of the Knoxville Botanical Garden - an idyllic spot only two miles outside of the center city.

Previous performers include Amos Lee, Dawes, Citizen Cope, The Black Lillies, Langhorne Slim, The Felice Brothers, Darrell Scott, Carrie Rodriguez, Ben Sollee, Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, Justin Townes Earle and many more.
