Summary
Rising Talents of Atlanta (RTA), a non-profit music education organization, is offering talented high school vocalists an extraordinary opportunity to perform in a theatrical-style musical revue at the Rialto Center next February 2nd, 2008.
RTAs program includes scholarship money for each of its accepted applicants together with an opportunity to learn performance techniques that go beyond the typical high school theater or choral experience. Fifteen selected students will work with professional musicians, participate in the arrangement of their selected music and receive instruction in stage presence as a solo performer.
Each of the 15 selected students will receive college scholarship money. The evenings performances will also be judged by a panel of music and entertainment professionals, and the top three performers will receive additional monetary rewards.
All applicants must be high school vocalists from the following Georgia counties:
All applicants must submit an a cappella version of the Star Spangled Banner and a second song of their choice, to be considered. Please be sure these are uploaded in your EPK.
RTA believes that the selection of music to be performed at this event is critical to its success. Song selections made available to will include musical theater, R&B/soul, rock, pop, blues, gospel, country, latin, world, etc. Each student, together with input from the musical director, will select two songs for presentation. A common theme across all selections will be audience connection and delight, and thats why RTA calls it a theatrical musical revue.
The event judges will evaluate each performance on a variety of criteria including vocal quality, originality in song presentation and overall performance. Since all selections will be performed with live musical accompaniment, each performer will have the opportunity to interpret and "customize" their songs in a manner which brings out the performer's strongest capabilities.
Back-up singers and other techniques may be used to add depth to given presentations. Our performers will collaborate with our industry professionals in the structuring of each musical presentation.
