Don't miss your LAST CHANCE to submit to the River City Ohio Blues Competition. Blues bands and solo/duo acts will compete for cash prizes and BJFMS sponsorship to The Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis, Tennessee. Artists will also receive exposure to record labels, A&R representatives, blues industry professionals and festival promoters./n/nThe 18th Annual River City Ohio Blues Competition could be an artist's ticket to the Memphis International Blues Challenge, no matter what location, all talented blues acts are welcome to apply. Ohio's oldest and largest blues competition will take place in February at The Lafayette Hotel, on the banks of the Ohio River. The winner receives $1,000 CASH plus BJFMS Sponsorship to IBC, the largest gathering of blues talent in the world. Not to mention, it's an artist's chance to gain valuable exposure to record labels, A&R representatives, blues industry professionals and festival promoters capable of providing real career advancement for the serious blues musician.

Due to the layout and size of the venue, changes had to be made to relieve the congestion and confusion around the stage area and to make sure the transition between acts goes as smoothly as possible. The festival will provide backline for most musicians to share.

Stage/Backline equipment provided:

Guitar players will now be required to use only the bass, and guitar amps provided, but can still use their own instruments and effect pedals.
Harmonica players Will be allowed to use their own amps or the amps provided.

Keyboard players: Must use their own keyboards and stands. For those wanting to use Hammonds, it is their responsibility for the moving and placement to and from the stage area, both before performance and after.

Drummers: Must use the set provided! No changing of cymbals or snare drum. They will be allowed to change the bass drum pedal only. They will also be allowed to make adjustments for their playing style. ( height, cymbal angles, etc.)

BJFM will provide:

5pc Black Pearl Export Series single bass drum set w/heavy duty hardware, Zildjian & Sabian cymbals & all Evans heads. D. W. single bass drum pedal.

Hartke 3500 bass amp w / compression & graphics. With 2 cabinets. Each w/ 4x10 speakers. ( 4 aluminum & 4 regular )

Keyboard players may run direct through the P.A. system or use their own keyboard amp.

1 90 watt / DC 5 (dual caliber) Mesa Boogie combo single 12 plus 1-12extension cabinet.

2 or more Category 5- all tube, handwired, point to point, Class A guitar amps. 1 Tsunami/ True 18 watt / 1 12spkr. Plus 1 Ivan / True 20 watt / 1 12spkr. ( dual channel amps) For info about Category 5 amps. ( see: www.category5amps.com )

Stage lighting and PA system w/ in your face monitoring, direct boxes, microphones & stands will be provided.
