Music makes up the heart and "sole" of this event. Live bands will be performing a variety of music from alternative to classic rock, punk, funk and blues to jazz it up. The bands set the tempo for this 26.2 and 13.1 mile party, where runners and spectators alike will be "Dancin' in the Streets" to these mini-concerts.

Applications from Washington-based bands will be the only ones accepted. Any and all types of “family friendly” musicians are encouraged to apply. There will be no specific genre of music or number of musicians per stage. Bands selected to perform will receive a stipend.

Performances will be held from 7:00am – 3:00pm and performers are required to arrive at 6:00am (subject to change). Performance times and shift duration will be determined upon stage location (maximum performance time of 4 hours played in rotating shifts). Sound and lights will be provided. Bands must provide all instruments.

Length of set on stage varies from 45 minutes to a maximum of 4 hours. Stages featuring lengthy sets will showcase more than one band with an alternating performance schedule. Decision as to band placement will be at the sole discretion of Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle and will be based upon type of music, sponsor requests, radio station requests, stage location and marathon logistics.
