Summary

Rock the Vote Nights will present a series of shows in Washington D.C., Los Angeles and other cities throughout 2009. This special June 3 show is designed to celebrate the 22 million young people that showed up to the voting polls last November. The event is the official concert of America’s Future Now (AFN) conference. AFN is the largest gathering of progressive activists and leaders from across the country.

One Sonicbids artist will be given a $500 travel stipend and selected to open for Wale w/ UCB & Tabi Bonney at 9:30 Club.

Wale is a rapper who rides for the “DMV” – DC, Maryland and Virginia – and enjoys support from the likes of Jay-Z, Mark Ronson, Pharrell, The Roots, Bun B, and The Clipse. In the last three years, Wale has released a series of mixtapes, well-received by both fans and critics – including his two most recent, Mixtape About Nothing (2008) and 100 Miles and Running (2007). He also appeared on The Roots' single "Rising Up" from their Rising Down album, and a remix of Lily Allen's bubbly pop record, "Smile”. His well-known single “Nike Boots” features Lil’ Wayne. Wale’s debut album “Attention Deficit” will be released this summer and is on Paste Magazine's "6 More Albums to Get Excited About in 2009" list.
