Summary

The Songwriter Showcase is a nationally recognized songwriter competition that takes place during the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival. The 23rd Annual Rocky Mountain Folks Festival is held August 16-18, 2013 at the scenic Planet Bluegrass Ranch along the banks of the St. Vrain River in Lyons, Colorado.

There are 10 slots for Sonicbids members available to perform on the festival main stage on Friday, August 16th. Selected artists will also be awarded cash and prizes, and "in the round" performances in the Wildflower Pavilion during the festival. The contest winner will perform a full main stage set at the 2014 festival.

The competition is open to solo performers who write and perform original music and who are not signed to a major recording or a publishing deal. Acceptable styles include singer-songwriter, Americana, folk, pop, and bluegrass. Co-writes are not permitted. Contestants will be judged by a panel of industry professionals on the quality of the songĀ¹s composition, vocal delivery, and overall performance. Finalists also receive an in-the-round performance slot in the Wildflower Pavilion and a camping/festival pass.

When choosing songs to submit, please consider:

  • Songwriting entries must be entirely written by the entering songwriter. Sorry, no co-writes.

  • As this is a solo singer-songwriter contest, submissions should showcase the songwriter as the lead vocalist.

  • Songwriters are highly encouraged to submit new & different songs for the Telluride Troubadour and Folks Showcase contests. New songs will be given preference by the panel of judges.
