Rocky Mountain Folks Festival - Songwriter Showcase 2009

The Songwriter Showcase is a nationally recognized songwriter competition that takes place during the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival. The 19th Annual Rocky Mountain Folks Festival is held August 14-16, 2009 at the scenic Planet Bluegrass Ranch along the banks of the St. Vrain River in Lyons, Colorado.



The contest is open to solo performers who write and perform original music, and who are not signed to a major recording or publishing deal. Contestants are judged on the quality of the song’s composition, vocal delivery, and overall performance. Acceptable styles include singer-songwriter, Americana, folk, pop, and bluegrass. Ten songwriter finalists are selected to perform on the main stage at the Festival in Lyons, CO on August 14th, 2009 where they will be judged by a panel of industry professionals and awarded cash, prizes, critical acclaim, well deserved recognition, and a chance to perform a full set on the Festival main stage the following year! In addition to the contest, finalists also receive an in-the-round performance slot in the Wildflower Pavilion, and a camping/festival pass.



Past performers include Erica Wheeler, Don Conoscenti, Karen Pernick, Deb Talan, Dan Sheridan, Dee Carstensen, Mitch Barrett, Sarah Sample, Chuck E. Costa and many others. This year’s preliminary lineup will be announced soon!
