Summary
Rusty's Surf Ranch is holding its 8th Annual Battle of the Bands from January through April, 2009. There are nine qualifying rounds held on Thursdays, and with three bands competing per night, there will be a total of 27 bands in the battle. The Battle of the Bands will feature bands in all genres going through a qualifying round, a semi-final round and a finals round:
9 Qualifying Rounds
Thursdays, Jan. 15 - Mar. 19
30-minute sets
3 bands per night
Each qualifying round will feature 3 bands, and it is based 40% on draw and 60% on the judges, who will score you on musical ability, showmanship/stage presence. There will be no cover charge during qualifying rounds. The winner will be announced after the final band each Thursday night:

Winners for 1/15-1/29 - semi-final on 3/26
Winners for 2/5-2/26 - semi-final on 4/2
Winners for 3/5-3/19 - semi-final on 4/9
3 Semi-Final Rounds
Thursdays, Mar. 26 - Apr. 9
30-minute Sets
Each semi-final round will feature 3 bands, with the order to be determined by drawing during qualification rounds. The semi-final round is based 30% on draw and 70% on the judges, who will score you on musical ability, showmanship/stage presence. There will be a $3 cover charge with a 50/50 split between band and club. Semi-final winners will be announced after the final band each Thursday night
Finals
Friday, April 24
60-minute Sets
The 3 winners of the semi-finals will perform in the finals, and the round is based 30% on draw and 70% on the judges, who will score you on musical ability, showmanship/stage presence. There will be a $7 cover charge with a 50/50 split between band and club. The winner will be announced after the final band performs. The winner will receive $1000 in cash & prizes plus a Saturday booking, in addition to their share of the door.
