Most genres are accepted, and there will be Latin and Irish themed performances as well. Selected artists will be compensated that is negotiated upon booking. Sound systems and equipment will be provided at the festival, but artists are responsible for bringing their own instruments and necessary backline. Sailfest offers festival-goers a chance to see artists from many different genres. The event has hosted performances by the likes of Dr. Dog, The Slip, Alice Smith, Enter The Haggis, Jason Isbell (Drive-By Truckers), Max Creek, U-N-I, Black 47, Gaelic Storm and many more.

Sailfest is Southeastern Connecticut's premiere summertime event attracting over 300,000 people over the three-day festival. Complete with a major fireworks display, amusement rides, free entertainment, Tall Ship, and over 100 vendors lining the downtown streets. Sailfest produces five stages of free entertainment with musical genres ranging in Rock, Celtic, Hip Hop, and Blues. Kids enjoy free shows and entertainment throughout the event. Sailfest also showcases the 2nd largest fireworks display in the Northeast, sponsored by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. All the money raised during the Sailfest is directly donated back into the city by supporting other non profits organizations.
