Summary

The Associated Students at San Jose State University is a private non-profit organization dedicated to improving student life for the 30,000+ students on the campus of San Jose State.

They promote a wide variety of events, ranging from ticketed and free concerts, to lecture series and social events. They do direct promotion and co-promotion with other agencies and also have an in-house marketing and graphics team able to successfully promote events to both on and off campus audiences.

San Jose State has several monthly series, including:

  • Nooner Concerts:

Free concerts by local and national acts performed in the Student Union Amphitheater during the lunch hour.

  • Campus BBQs:

A free lunchtime event providing a free lunch (hamburgers and hot dogs) to as many students as can fit. They often provide small bands and entertainment for the attendees at a pavilion style performance area adjacent to the serving area. One of the University’s most popular events!

  • Moonlight Movie Nights:

Free outdoor movie showings at the Campus village facility. They often incorporate live music performances into these evening events.

  • LIVE@5:

A free outdoor concert series by local and national acts in the central lawn area on campus. Events begin between 5:00 and 5:30 pm and usually run one hour.

San Jose State also has non-series programming, including:

  • Ticketed Concerts, Comedians, Lectures, Programs:

San Jose State hosts a wide variety of musical acts and other performers in various venues around the campus. They have direct access to a 1,000 seat flat floor ballroom space, a 1,000 seat theater, and a 3,000-7,000 seat arena. They do direct promotion and co-promotion with other agencies for these shows.

All programs run during the Spring and Fall Semesters, from January-May and September-December. Attendance for these events ranges from 100-8,500. All bands will be paid, and The Associated Students do their best to work with the needs of the performers. Fees are negotiated according to each specific event.

The Associated Students at San Jose State also presents The Metro Fountain Blues Festival, which you can submit to at their Metro Fountain Blues Festival drop box.
