Summary

The deadline for S.C.E.N.E. 2012 has been extended one week to Friday, April 20.

S.C.E.N.E. is the St. Catharines Event for New music Entertainment, a locally based independent music festival. It has into one of the largest and most anticipated one-day, all-ages, independent music festivals in Canada.

S.C.E.N.E. has selected over 140 Sonicbids bands to perform since 2009. For 2012, the festival is guaranteeing to select at least 21 Sonicbids artists.

Last year's S.C.E.N.E. Music Festival drew over 6,000 people and attracted industry and media interest from throughout North America. This benchmark year featured 170+ bands on 19 stages (including 2 outdoor stages) at 13 all-ages venues all within easy walking distance of St. Catharines' downtown.

Genres accepted include: independent pop, hip-hop, reggae, ska, Celtic, country, folk, queer, punk, metal, funk, emo and rock. Some artists are paid, some play for free. S.C.E.N.E. features local, national and international independent artists.

The S.C.E.N.E. Music Festival has provided a vital springboard for such artists as Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, Silverstein, City & Colour, Neverending White Lights, Shad, Ill Scarlet, Midway State, USS, the Mahones, Cancer Bats, Attack In Black and Bedouin Soundclash. They have also featured international acts like Madball, Every Time I Die, Del the Funkee Homosapien, Naysayer, and Shai Hulud.

While maintaining the original 1995 festival's strong focus on Niagara-based independent acts, the S.C.E.N.E. Festival has become a drastically more diverse event. Featuring a S.C.E.N.E. Market pavillion, located at the S.C.E.N.E. headquarters and main staging area, S.C.E.N.E. performing artists gather to sell their wares alongside labels, vendors and aritsans.
