Summary

The School of Groove is a music school that teaches kids how to play instruments in Cambridge MA They are holding a High school Battle of the Bands at the Middle East Upstars in Central Square. The School of Groove High School Battle of the Bands provides young people with the opportunity to perform at one of Boston's premiere performance venues, while competing to win recording studio time,gear, and a music video taping./n/nThe School of Groove is a contemporary music school in Cambridge, MA that provides students with lessons, band coachings, classes, and outstanding performance opportunities. The School of Groove will be hosting a High School Battle of the Bands, taking place at Cambridge's Premiere Rock Club, the Middle East Upstairs (Central Square). The event will take place on Sunday, December 12 from 1-5pm. Eight bands will be selected to perform at this exciting new event. Bands will be notified of their acceptance by November 17th, 2010.



All candidates must include a minimum of 3 songs on their EPK, band photo, instrumentation, and brief band bio. All members must be under 19, but not necessarily be a student. Bands from all genres of music are welcomed to apply, and each band must have at least three members. There must be a minimum of one instrumental player per band. DJ performers are acceptable, as long as there are other instrumentalists in the group. Each will be given 15 to 20 minutes to play, not including time to set-up/break-down.



Participating bands will compete to win the following:


  • Full day Recording/Mixing Lock In at Sprintline Recording Studio (Brighton, MA)
  • $250 Shopping Spree to Daddy's Junky Music or Guitar Center
  • Paid concert performance at School of Groove 2011 summer camp




Audience members can vote for one band only, and fans may vote for the band instead of getting a stamp at the door. Each fan vote will be valued at 1 point. Three contest judges will be present, and may award 1-10 points to each band. Fan/judge votes will be tallied and a Contest Winner will be announced at the conclusion of the event.
