Summary

Say It Records and Champ Records present the fifth annual San Diego IndieFest - the nation's first and only exclusively independent music and arts festival. San Diego IndieFest is a celebration and revelation of the ever-growing and increasingly powerful indie music and film happening throughout the country.

The fifth annual event will be held on March 28, 2009 from noon to midnight and will feature over 70 artists on 7 stages. Artists will include everything from local buzz-makers to national indie icons and only Independent artists (not signed to a major label) are eligible to play at San Diego IndieFest. Diversity reigns at this year's festival, with music ranging from rock to pop, R&B to hip-hop, salsa, spoken word, folk and more – all genres are not only welcomed but encouraged. There may be compensation available for some artists.

Last year Indie film stage debuted in Southern California, the Academy Award winning documentary short, "Freeheld," as well as an array of other outstanding indie shorts and full-length features. All independent filmmakers are highly encouraged to submit.

Past music headliners have included indie icons Beth Hart, Claude Coleman (WEEN), Semi Precious Weapons, Veruca Salt, Jonatha Brooke, Fishbone, Michelle Shocked, Scissors For Lefty, Heather Grody (The Murmurs), and World renowned double-violinist, Gingger Shankar. Our most exciting headliners yet will be featured at our big 5-year birthday event next March 2009!

The music is emphasized as a representation of why diversity is not simply to be 'tolerated' but rather to be celebrated as the crux of that which is remarkable in our community, and that which is crucial to a healthy, vibrant city where people of all types are important, recognized and valued.

Debuting in 2004, SDIMF made history as the only event of its kind in the entire country, dedicated to celebrating and advocating Indie music, art, business, culture and thought. Nearly tripling in size in its sophomore year in Nov. ’05 with over 2500 in attendance, and tripling again in '07, SDIMF has become California's hottest and youngest event to grow this exponentially.
