Say It Records and Champ Records present the seventh annual San Diego IndieFest - the first festival of its kind in the nation that focuses exclusively on independent music, film, art and thought. Expecting to bring in 10,000 attendees, San Diego IndieFest is an on-going celebration and revelation of the ever-growing and increasingly powerful world of indie music, film and culture. Twenty slots are reserved for Sonicbids artists, though the Promoter may double that.

Just Added - IndieProMix will be sponsoring again, whose credit include Michael Jackson, Madonna, Will Smith, Sublime, Christina Aguilera, BB King and more, meaning that 3 free mixes will be given away to IndieFest 7 Artists who register. But the fun part is that these guys actually come to IndieFest and check out the bands live. At IndieFest 6 this past March, 17 Free Mixes were given away!

Past music headliners have included indie icons like Metric, Semi Precious Weapons, Far, Nappy Roots, Juliette Lewis, Beth Hart, Claude Coleman (WEEN), Veruca Salt, Jonatha Brooke, Fishbone, Michelle Shocked, Scissors For Lefty, Heather Grody (The Murmurs) and world renowned double-violinist Gingger Shankar.

The event takes place from noon to midnight and will feature over 50 artists on multiple stages. Artists will include everything from local buzz-makers to national (and possibly international) indie icons. Only Independent artists (not signed to a major label) are eligible to play at San Diego IndieFest, and ALL GENRES are not only welcomed, but enthusiastically encouraged to participate.

San Diego IndieFest’s most exciting headliners yet will be featured at their big 7-year birthday next March 2011.

San Diego IndieFest is a nonprofit project, created and produced by a San Diego-based artist collective. Their volunteer-based staff is very small and works year 'round to keep this powerful event alive. As full-time artists themselves, the San Diego IndieFest production staff understands that it can be frustrating not to get a personal letter back as to why you or your band was or was not selected. Because there are so few people in their office, and because they receive well over 1000 submissions every year, it's simply impossible for them to write each of you individually with the myriad of other tasks heaping on their plates to keep IndieFest alive and thriving. They do, however, review each submission thoroughly and with the utmost respect.

Terms:

Since the recession hit, San Diego IndieFest has been unable to promise compensation to artists and bands, as sponsorship funds have decreased tremendously. They understand some of you feel that paying a submission fee when no monetary compensation is guaranteed constitutes a pay-to-play situation; to those artists, the promoter respectfully asks you NOT to submit until IndieFest is at a place that better suits your needs.

For now, please understand very clearly that IndieFest is a mighty force of will coming from a few very committed artists and visionaries who are working everyday to make it a reality. Again, the staff is a small team of full time artists and activists who back their words with mega doses of work to show that as a force of many we can deliver a powerful and resounding message regarding the significance of Indie art, outreach and culture. Once again, with feeling, please do not submit for IndieFest unless this kind of grassroots activism moves you.
