PLAY: El Corazon (WA)

We provide the ultimate concert and social experience with a staff focused on strong, excellent customer service and artist relations. When Dana Sims opened his nightclub/live music venue in downtown Seattle in 2005, the name was a no-brainer: El Corazón. Meaning “The Heart” in Spanish, the space El Corazón inhabits has functioned as a live music venue, club or bar since 1910, and helped launch some of Seattle’s most iconic bands. (Previous names of the space include Graceland, The Off Ramp, Sub-Zero, The Eastlake East Cafe and Au Go Go).

El Corazon has served as the launching pad for new generations of Seattle bands that have gone on to big record deals and world tours (The Fall Of Troy, Macklemore, Aiden, Schoolyard Heroes, Himsa, 3 Inches Of Blood, This Providence, Monsters Scare You, etc). While many Seattle venues have shuttered, El Corazón is still pumping life into the scene. The venue continues to host national and international acts, provides local bands with a place to build their foundation, and remains one of the leading concert halls for the all-ages crowd.

Rock and Roll, Punk Rock, Indie Rock, Hardcore, Metal, Sweater Rock, Emo, Math Rock, Experimental. Post Punk, Electroclash. You name it. We also dabble in electronic and hip hop, but we are always experimenting and expanding our horizons.

The Funhouse and El Corazon are large capacity venues and require that bands have a fan base in the Seattle-area prior to playing here.

El Corazón and the Funhouse are fantastic venues for bands to play. We have a great sound system, big stage, excellent beer selection, etc.

Most local shows at The Funhouse and El Corazon are booked as a door deal. This means that the show has to cover our expenses (outlined as the “show deal” when booking the show) before anyone sees any form of payment. Expenses typically include rent, sound and security costs on all ages shows, and rent and sound costs on 21+ shows. You are not guaranteed any money before expenses are paid, so it is in everyone’s best interest to hustle your show.
