Now entering its 4th year, the Serafemme Queer Women of Color Music Festival is a groundbreaking, six hour long outdoor festival showcasing 17 artists of various genres including hip-hop, R&B, acoustic, soul, funk & spoken word in addition to arts, crafts and food vendors. This yearÂ’s festival will take place on Sunday, August 17, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. Emerging artists are welcome to submit.

First year artists are asked to donate their performances, crowd favorites are asked to return in subsequent years for at least $150. Out of town artists should submit their performance quote for review. Artists outside California selected to perform will receive flight and hotel accomodations.

There are two slots reserved for Sonicbids artists.

Major sponsors include: the City of West Hollywood, Christopher Street West (2007, pending for 2008), GLAAD (2005-2007, pending for 2008) and the June L. Mazer Lesbian Archives (2005-2008). Serafemme 2007 more than doubled its inaugural audience and yielded over 500 women in attendance. The festival garnered media exposure in Tomboyz Quarterly, dot Magazine and LN Magazine. This year, the festival is being considered for network broadcast.
