Now in its 4th year, Silicon Valley Rocks 2011 will bring together the Valley’s tech community — from VCs and entrepreneurs to bloggers and software developers — to raise money for Music in Schools Today (MuST). Now in its 4th year, Silicon Valley Rocks 2011 will bring together the Valley’s tech community — from VCs and entrepreneurs to bloggers and software developers — to raise money for Music in Schools Today (MuST). There are six slots available and bands must be connected to the technology industry and be willing to play for free to support music education in the schools.

Artists must have at least one tech professional in the band. Band members can work in technology, write songs about technology, or use technology in their music. Singers, guitaristsm and keyboardists that are not in a band but would like to be considered for a spot in the Open Source Band should also submit. Bands must have experience playing gigs and be able to attract a sizeable fan base.

Bands will have 20 minute sets and share a backline. The SVR selection committee — a mix of music and tech professionals — will then choose the final line-up.
