Summary

Simon Says Booking is a full service booking and publicity agency that is in its sixth year of independent operation. Past and present clients include Max Creek, ulu, Antigone Rising, ALBINO!, Will Bernard, One Under, Fareed Haque, Phat Phunktion, Zen Tricksters, Chicago Afrobeat Project, Woodbox Gang, Moses Guest, and countless others. Freelance clients past and present include Badfish, Superhoney, the Boston Horns, Garaj Mahal, the Casual Fiasco, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, and many others.

Simon Says Booking is located in Northern MA, but they service events across the United States. In 2005 alone, as an agency, they booked over 2,500 shows totaling over $1 million worth of business for their clients. In addition to handling bands, they also have a history of talent buying for events including the first ever Oregon Kids Fest, the Church of Universal Love and Music and ski areas, colleges, private high schools, and clubs around the country. Their bands have played every type of event imaginable. In total, nearly 10,000 shows have been booked by the agency and its agents over the years.

Simon Says Booking is capable of representing any genre and style, but concentrates on Funk, Rock, Jam, Bluegrass, R&B, Soul, and Ethnic/World bands. In the past Simon Says has represented everything including Radio Rock, Conscious Hip-Hop, Cajun, and even Punk bands. It would be no trouble to book any band or artist who is well known, but bands who are in need of serious development in the genres that include Metal, Singer/Songwriter, Country, Singer/Songwriter and Hip-Hop might not find what they are seeking. That being said, any high quality band or artist will be appropriate for submission, regardless of genre, especially if their development has lead to label and fan interest. Artists based outside of the United States are unlikely to be signed unless they have significant market history and development in the US already.

They pride themselves on operating the agency differently than others, noting that they handle rock stars, but don't act like rock stars themselves. Their motto is “We Are Here to Help You.” That philosophy permeates their relationships with client bands as well as talent buyers around the country. It is their job to supply high quality entertainment to buyers while representing the client artists to the best of their abilities. The company has grown in sales 10-50% every year since its inception including 50% growth two years ago in 2005.

While they generally have about 10-20 bands on the roster that they represent as their exclusive agents, they freelance as many as 100 other bands in any given year for less frequent opportunities. Many bands who were not chosen for exclusive representation in the past received work through the agency or were offered work through the agency. Their bands have played major festivals from coast to coast, and many buyers lean on Simon Says to supply them with new talent and to search out the most interesting and professional musicians touring today.

They will be choosing one Sonicbids band to add to their roster in 2008. They will also choose many bands for freelance opportunities.
