Summary

The "Best Vocalist Of The Month" Competition honors and publicizes the top vocalists each month on the popular SingerUniverse online magazine/website. SingerUniverse is headed by veteran music publisher/A&R exec Dale Kawashima, formerly of ATV, Sony, Motown, and Mercury Records./n/nThe "Best Vocalist Of The Month" Competition honors and publicizes the top vocalists each month who submit their demos to the popular SingerUniverse online magazine/website, which attracts over 70,000 visitors per month. This Competition not only spotlights the winning singer, but also showcases the Top Five Vocalists of the month. Many pro producers, A&R execs, managers and songwriters check out the winning songs each month.


Notably, the SingerUniverse Advisory Board consists of five, top industry pros: eight-time Grammy winner Chaka Khan; Walter Afanasieff (1999 Grammy Producer Of The Year, and writer/producer for Mariah Carey, Josh Groban and Celine Dion); Billy Mann (Senior A&R Executive for EMI/Capitol Records, and hit writer/producer of Pink, Jessica Simpson, Teddy Geiger); Jay Landers (Senior Vice President of Columbia Records, and Executive Producer for Barbra Streisand, Hilary Duff, Jesse McCartney); and Lis Lewis (top vocal coach).


SingerUniverse is headed by veteran music publisher/A&R exec Dale Kawashima, who previously was President of Michael Jackson’s ATV Music, and a creative exec at Sony, Motown and Mercury Records. Kawashima is currently Executive Director of HoriPro Entertainment Group, which is an internationally-known music publishing company (with offices in Los Angeles, Nashville and Tokyo), Japan-based record label and talent agency. HoriPro publishes worldwide the catalogs of KISS, REO Speedwagon, Marilyn Manson, Sophie B. Hawkins, the Byrds, Jerry Reed, plus many country hits. HoriPro is also co-owner of WHD Records in Japan (distributed by Victor Records), which signs and releases international English-language) artists.


The selected vocalist will be interviewed for a very positive feature article in SingerUniverse. Dale Kawashima will personally interview (via phone or email) the selected vocalist, and write the article. The article will remain online for at least two years, so many people can view this article over an extended period. The article will include a photo of the selected artist, streaming audio of the selected song, plus a link to the vocalist's website and email address. The selected vocalist (plus their photo) will be announced on the front, home page of the SingerUniverse site. In addition, the four other finalists will be spotlighted on the homepage and on the contest selected article page, with the names of the finalists, their photos, streaming audio of their songs, plus their website and e-mail links. Also, the selected vocalist and four finalists will receive several prizes.



Important Note: The Top Five Vocalists each month will be reviewed for consideration by executives at HoriPro Entertainment Group and WHD Records.


There are six prizes for the selected vocalist: (1) a six month extension to your Sonicbids membership; (2) a One-Year Primo Membership with Broadjam.com, which includes full access to their online promotional tools and services (value $199); (3) the "A&R Registry" book, which lists the contact info for all the label A&R execs in the U.S., Canada & U.K. (value $75); (4) the "Indie Bible" resource book for independent artists (value $35); (5) the "The Deva Method Vocal Warm-Ups & Cool-Downs" vocal practice CD, which is created by prominent vocal coach, Jeannie Deva (value $15); and (6) Gold Artist Membership with online radio network & website, RadioIndy, which includes a free web page and internet radio airplay. In addition, the Four Other Finalists (Runner-Ups) shall receive the following two prizes: (1) a Six-Month Primo Membership with Broadjam.com, which includes full access to their online promotional tools and services (value $99); and (2) Gold Artist Membership with online radio network & website, RadioIndy, which includes a free web page and internet radio airplay.


Vocalist demos in all genres of music will be accepted for this competition. Artists can submit an original song, or a recording of a hit or classic song. Each demo will be judged on its vocal performance, artistic merit, originality and uniqueness. Demos do not have to be elaborately produced, but they need to be presented in a professional manner, to attract the attention and respect of industry figures who will be listening.
