SingerUniverse Best Vocalist Of The Month (October '13)

The "Best Vocalist Of The Month" Competition honors and publicizes the top vocalists each month who submit their demos to the popular SingerUniverse online magazine/website, which attracts over 40,000 visitors per month. This Competition not only spotlights the winning singer, but also showcases the Top Five Vocalists of the month. Many professional producers, A&R executives, managers and songwriters check out the winning songs each month.

Notably, the SingerUniverse Advisory Board consists of five, top industry professionals: eight-time Grammy winner Chaka Khan; Walter Afanasieff (Grammy Producer Of The Year, and writer/producer for Mariah Carey, Josh Groban and Celine Dion); Billy Mann (hit writer/producer for Pink, Jessica Simpson, John Legend); Jay Landers (Senior Vice President of A&R for Verve/Universal Records and Executive Producer for Barbra Streisand); and Lis Lewis (top vocal coach).

SongwriterUniverse is headed by veteran music publisher/A&R exec Dale Kawashima, who previously was President of Michael Jackson’s ATV Music and Irving Azoff’s Giant Music, and a creative exec at Sony/ATV Music, Motown Records and Mercury Records. From 2006-2012 was Executive Consultant for HoriPro Entertainment Group, and he currently runs his own publishing company and is an A&R Consultant.

The writer(s) of the winning song will be interviewed for a very positive, feature article in SingerUniverse. The article will remain online indefinitely, so many people can view this article over an extended period. The article will include a photo of the winner, streaming audio of the winning song, a YouTube embedded video of the song (if available), plus a link to the vocalist’s website and email address. The winning vocalist (plus their photo) will be spotlighted on the front, home page of the SingerUniverse site for a full month. In addition, the four other finalists will be spotlighted on the same article page, with the names of the finalists and their winning songs, their photos, streaming audio of their songs, a YouTube embedded video of the song (if available), plus their website and e-mail links.

Notably, the winning vocalist will also be publicized on the SingerUniverse Facebook page, with an attractive, large photo of the vocalist posted atop this page for one month.

In addition to the publicity and exposure, there are five prizes for the winning vocalist: (1) a One-Year Primo Membership with Broadjam.com, which includes full access to their online promotional tools and services (value $199); (2) a copy of the "A&R Registry" directory (value $75; now in PDF form); (3) the "Indie Bible" resource directory for independent artists (value $35; now in PDF form); (4) the "The Deva Method Vocal Warm-Ups & Cool-Downs" vocal practice CD, which is created by prominent vocal coach, Jeannie Deva (value $15); and (5) eligibility for a feature in the Sonicbids Promoter Shoutout.

In addition, the Four Other Finalists (Runner-Ups) shall receive the following prize: (1) a One-Year Primo Membership with Broadjam.com, which includes full access to their online promotional tools and services (value $199).

Vocalist demos in all genres of music will be accepted for this competition. You can submit an original song, or a recording of a hit or classic song. Each demo will be judged on its vocal performance, artistic merit, originality and uniqueness. Demos do not have to be elaborately produced, but they need to be presented in a professional manner,to attract the attention and respect of industry figures who will be listening.
